Forward Performing Arts and the Madison Scouts are pleased to announce the dates and open registration for the Mad Dash 5K for Music Education. The nation-wide run/walk is entering its second year with six confirmed run locations and additional sites to be added. Building on last year’s success, the fundraising project is expanding its partnership with local music arts organizations to jointly raise funds and awareness for their programs.

“Last year we reached out to the Seminole High School Band and had them participating in the Tampa St. Pete Mad Dash,” said race organizer Chuck Henson. “This year we are excited to announce a partnership with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra for the Dallas run and we are finalizing fundraising partnerships at each of our host cities.”

The Mad Dash 5K was started to support and promote a healthy lifestyle and fitness in our nation’s youth, with particular focus toward those young people participating in high school marching bands, color guards, and drum lines. Proceeds raised through the Mad Dash 5K will be used to advance health & wellness initiatives in the marching arts through practice and a series of educational clinics.

The 2017 locations include:

Tampa/St. Pete, FL – Saturday, April 22 – partnered with Seminole High School Band
Dallas, TX – Saturday, April 22 – partnered with Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra
St. Louis, MO – Saturday, April 22
Madison, WI – Sunday, July 9

Atlanta, GA – Date TBD – partnered with North Cobb High School Orchestra
Indianapolis, IN – Date TBD – partnered with Music for All

New to the event this year is peer-to-peer and team fundraising capabilities. When a runner registers for the race, they can then help the cause by reaching out to their network of family and friends to help support them through a donation. A pre-built fundraising page is presented to each registered runner which can be customized and easily shared within their social networks including Facebook and Twitter. In addition, team pages can also be generated to help groups of people fundraise in support of music education.

Race sponsorships are also being offered, available for either a specific location or as an event-wide title sponsor.
